My Birthday Wish

For my birthday this year, I had a special request for a few of the creatives in my life. I wanted something to do with the burial forest that used their talents.

My dad composed and performed a haiku in the forest (videography by me, aka, not up to Annica’s standards):

Arboreal praise
Warbles, chirps, calls and chorus
Lauds and evensong
— Steve Quakenbush on July 4, 2022

My wife Annica transformed some images of flowers, taken by her on the property, into fine art creations (available in the SHOP!). They are in the style of Joel Sartore, captain of the Photo Ark. I gave Annica a signed portrait of a mother gibbon nursing her baby for Mother’s Day a couple years ago. Here are the Botanical Portraits:

And finally, my sister is working on something related to white oak trees, one of the dominant species in the forest. I think it will be ceramic. I’ll be sure to show it off when it is ready! :)

Happy birthday to me!
